I had mentioned this in another group, but I realized it's better suited to
this group. The shield icon on my Taskbar says it has been downloading
updates most of the afternoon/evening and it's only at 24%. I have no idea
what these updates are - it seems that it USED to ask me. Isn't there a way
to set this so that is does ask and I can choose which ones I want to
install? I have Win XP (Pro, I think) with SP3.

RE: Updates

"All afternoon" but only at 24%...Might check youre internet connection,
since SP3,thier really are not alot of updates added to xp.As for
configuring,
R.click my computer,properties,select "automatic updates" tab,edit the
settings.

RE: Updates

If you go to Start > Control Panel > Security Center > Under Manage security
settings for: click "Automatic Updates"
You should be able to click the radio button that says "Notify me but don’t
automatically download or install them."
Click "OK" and you should be good to go.

Re: Updates

Joy, it becomes quite confusing (for all concerned) when you multipost about
an issue in several newsgroups. Please see my latest reply to your original
thread in IE6 Browser/IE General newsgroups:

Yes, but that was before you had a technician format and reinstall Windows!
