Hi all

I have format my server. Win2003 Server is now loaded on it. Everytime if i
leave the server without working on it for approx an hour it rebootes by
itself and stop at the option where it says :

System currently configured for Windows 2000

Press F1 to continue

Press F9 for ROM based setup utility

Press F10 for System Partition utilities
Press F12 for PXE Boot

Why is it doing this and how can i solve it?

Re: Server restart

Sounds like the BSOD. Check your Event Logs for clues. It could be a hardware
(bad RAM?) or driver issue.

RE: Server restart

Black screen? Did you pull the CD out of the drive? (Just checking)

Sounds like a BIOS issue? Is the hard drive booting? Do you have all the
drivers loaded that need to be for disk adapterss? Still sounds like a BIOS
issue to me...

Re: Server restart

Hi guys

This is what happened now. this morning when i got to the pc, it did reboot
again and was on the screen that i described in the post where you press F1,
F9, etc. I then did press F1 to continue. It went to the screen where it
says " Booting from C-Drive" and stayed there for some time. I hit enter and
it seems to move on then. Now it is at the screen where it says :

"SCSI BIOS not installed!
Slot 0 Compaq Smart Array 5i Controller (32MB, v1.80) 1 Logical Drive
Tape drive(s) Detected:
SCSI Port 1: SCSI ID 3
1786-Slot 0 Drive Array Recovery Needed
The following SCSI drive(s) need Automatic Data Recovery
(rebuild)
SCSI Port 2: SCSI ID 1

Select F1 to continue with recovery of data to drive(s)
Select F2 to continue without recovery of data to drive(s)

(RESUME = "F1" OR "F2" Key)

This is excatly what is on my screen now. Does this help in showing you guys
perhaps what is faulty. Obviously i couldn't get into the event viewer yet
to post results. I'll press F1 and see what happens

Re: Server restart

Hi, event ID 10 is lots of times in the Application log and event ID 6008,
7001 and 7024 are in the System Log. Any ideas?

Re: Server restart

You'd have to post the actual error messages.

Re: Server restart

Sounds like a failed RAID array.

RE: Server restart

Is it every hour on the hour? If so it sounds like the license might have
fallen out of its grace period. Have you checked to see if the OS is
licensed?

This post is provided as-is and is my opinion, check the facts before doing
anything in production.
