I want to be able to have Gmail (through Firefox 3.0) as my default outgoing
mail program selection.

In attempting to change the default setting associated with my e-mail, I
went to Control Panel > Default Programs> Set Associations.

Microsoft Outlook is currently the default under the
MAILTO--URLMailToProtocol. Clicking on the Change Program button brings up
the selection of Microsoft Mail, Opera, and Microsoft Outlook. Firefox is
completely missing. This is the case even though Firefox is my Default
browser.

Is there any way that I can get Firefox listed in here and/or any way that I
can get Gmail through Firefox as the default outgoing mail program?

Have a look here:

Re: changing default program

Thanks very much for your response.

I went ahead and actually tried this set of instructions before posting my
question. I'm referring to your first suggested link:
http://www.tech-recipes.com/rx/2202/gmail_default_email_program_xp_vista_os_x

Everything is as it should be in association with the Gmail options,
especially the portion which allows Gmail to be brought up in the browser for
all mailto links.

Unfortunately, Vista still brings up Microsoft Outlook as the default mail
program in such situations.

Might it be that I need to change something in association with some
Registry settings...?

Thanks again!

Re: changing default program

It still isn't working, in case anyone's interested.....

I sure wish Google had a support telephone number.
