We have dozens of computers acting strangly. They are all connected to the
domain as setup as any other computer is. For some reason though they will
simply go into "network death" there network cards seems to simply turn off,
looking at the network switch they will be unseen there as well. As soon as
we reboot or moved the network cable to another port they will come live
again. The only fix we have found is to join the computer to a workgroup
and then readd it to the domain. I know i've had this happen previously
with embedded windows systems but never full towers before. Does anyone know
what would suddenly cause this sickness?

Re: WinXp computer kicked off network.

Look in Device manager, NIC properties dialog, Power Management tab,
Uncheck the box for allow computer to turn off to save power.

Re: WinXp computer kicked off network.

Is there anything else that can cause it. Seems like kicking it off the
domain and readding it, and making sure the power settings are turned off is
not working.

Re: WinXp computer kicked off network.

Im really getting desparate now. Its spreading to more and more systems.
The symptoms are essencially network death. The only way to get the network
to work again is to logoff/login or restart. After some unpatternable point
it will happen again. Readding it to the domain does not work and neither
does turning off the power settings on the nic. It is also affecting our
secured leap wireless now, its connected with excellent signal but everythign
network wise will be disconnected and unreachable, until relog or restart.

What anti-virus software? On my personal home PC, my Norton 360 was
kicking the PC off my network. Until I told the Norton to trust my
home LAN IPs and wireless SSID. After these "trust" rules were set up
correctly, all was networking successfully.

Re: WinXp computer kicked off network.

What is "it" you are talking about? You have snipped previous elements in
your post so people many not know what you are referring to or what the
problem is.
