Date Modified

XP, SP2

After playing an mp3 file, the 'Date Modified' changes to the time it was
played. is there a way to correct this, and what would cause it?

If we say "forty, sixty, seventy, eighty and ninety", why don't we say
"twoty, threety and fivety"?

WYSIWYG. As far as Windows is concerned, the fact that you invoked (played)
the file means that it was Modified.

It only started this behavior two weeks ago. This is the only one of six XP
machines doing so.

No, the file modification date will not change if you play the file. The
fact that his does is unique - and errant. Apparently the app he is using
to play it, is now modifying it - not nice.

You're right - it shouldn't be happening. Do you have any idea of what has
changed in the last two weeks on your system? Whatever it is, it sounds
like the app you are using to play your mp3 file has decided to "update"
that modification date, which isn't right.

I'm using WMP 11. There are no references to this under 'Options'. That was
the first place I looked.

Another note:
The songs are on an external USB 2 drive and it doesn't happen when
connected to any of the other ix computers:

Hmm. Copy the song to a CD and (attempt to) play from there. Something might
fuss about being unable to write to the CD. That "something" may be the
culprit.
