We are implementing Folder Redirection very soon (just my documents and
desktop). We have put all the IT people (3 of us) on Redirection for
testing but we have come up with some questions. Everything works fine, but
where are the local files store at? If we take our laptops home we are
still able to open/modifiy files like normal. If I open my documents and
modify a file the C:\Documents and Settings\username\My Documents does not
refelect the change. But if we are offline the My Documents (off desktop)
will show the change. Where does it store the files?
One users C:\Documents and Settings\username\My Documents is blank but all
files are aviable though My Documents on the desktop.

Thanks,
Jon

What do you mean by local files? By definition, local files are....well,
local. :-)

Note that what you're talking about here is really offline files, which
doesn't specifically have to do with folder redirection although the two are
often used together.

From the My Docs shortcut, yes?

There shouldn't be a folder called that and if there is, don't look in
there. When you work offline you should still access My Documents the same
way you normallly do, thru the shortcut on the desktop. When you connect
back at the office, it should sync.

Don't worry about that - they shouldn't look at it directly (and it
shouldn't have anything in it if it's even there).

Yes - and that's the only way you should access them. For more help with
this I suggest you post in microsoft.public.windowsxp.general and perhaps
crosspost to microsoft.public.windows.group_policy.
