We have a brand new server Dell PowerEdge 1950, running Windows Server 2003
ENT, SP2.
It has two 1TB drives, not running any Raid.
Basically, some of the folders on the drives are very large, and if you open
them it takes a very long time, longer than normal. The screen goes to
white, and you wait, then eventually the flashlight icon starts going back
and forth. Finally the data will appear.
If we close that folder, after all the data is visible, and go back into
that folder right away, this does not happen anymore, it opens up right away.
We did notice that the Indexing service was disabled by default, so we
enabled that service, but still having the same issues.
