Is there an area of the registry recommended to be used as an area to
add additional keys and values not part of the traditional setup of Vista.

Something not all that obvious would be good too !!

Cheers,

Somewhere under

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software

should be ok eg

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Hey

depending on what you're trying to achieve.

For what? This sounds kind of suspicious.

And I don't think you can make a new top level node under the Computer
node. You're going to have to work with an existing top level node and
make a sub-node under it if you need to add new registry keys for your
usage. So, you're not going to be in obscurity.
