I have XP Home with SP3. My UPS has hijacked the only serial port I have
(com port 1?) and I need to use it for other things. I once was able to
disable the UPS on this port but have forgotten how and have been unable to
figure it out through trial and error. Any suggestions? Thanks.

See if this applies/helps:

One method for accessing the 'UPS Selection' window:
1. Click on 'Start'
2. Select 'Control Panel'
3. Double-Click on 'Power Options'
4. Click on the 'UPS' tab
5. In the 'Details' section click on the 'Select' button
6. In the 'UPS Selection' either set the 'On port' to something
other than COM1 or select the manufacturer to '(None)'

Re: My UPS has hijacked Com port 1 and I need it for other thi

you can expand your system
by adding additional ports
with something like this:

http://www.compusa.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3981736&CatId=1422

if you do the above, it
would be a good idea
to ensure your ups stays
connected to the mobo.
