I've downloaded Media C97 drivers from Download center and placed files on my
c drive, now what? The only option is to extract. What files do I need to
install this driver?

Double-click the file and Extract them. Make a note of where they are
extracted. Some driver installation routines will start immediately after
extraction. If yours doesn't, go into the folder where the extracted files
are and look for setup.exe. If it exists, double-click it to start the
installation routine. If there is no setup, then read any installation
instructions. You can usually find installation instructions in a text file
in the extracted files folder or on the website from which you downloaded
the drivers.

If you use the Windows extract facility, it could spray sound card
installation files all over your desktop.

Create a folder on C drive, place the zipped file in it, and then right
click > extract.

Look in the extracted file list for something called SETUP..
