All,
I have a two part question:

1. With terminal services in Windows 2003 and WYSE terminals running
embedded XP, is it possible to have reliable USB 2.0 redirection? We have
tried this shareware without a lot of luck and their support is less than
adequate. http://www.usb-redirector.com/downloads.html
What we are trying to do is install digital camera software on the terminal
sever and load pictures from the USB 2.0 cable locally at the WYSE terminal.
The camera needs to be a drive letter for the workflow to be acceptable.
Are there known third party solutions that will do this without breaking the
bank?
2. Is this even an issue with Windows Server 2008?
Thank you kindly.
Tim

What happens if users select the option to redirect local drive letters in
their TS sessions? They should see their cameras show up in Explorer as a
drive letter, if it's doing so on their local PC.

That said, I don't see the value in most bundled digital camera software.
Photoshop (or Elements) can work, but neither works well on TS. I'd just
copy the photos in Explorer if it were me.

Dunno.

Re: USB 2.0 Redirect Options with Native 2003 Terminal Services

only a thought, but why don't you use a good linux TC-OS like openthinclient
on the wyse TC's? the underlying ubuntu will map the camera to
/media/somename. this local share is accessible from within the TS session
by \\tsclient\media\somename.

then you subst the path \\tsclient\media\somename to the driveletter I: in a
logon script and tell the camera software to use this letter. so each user
has her/his local attached camera pictures available in the session.

this way we use RSA key files on USB pens, where the software only allows
driverletters to select.
