Hi,

I had a typo when setting up users in XP Pro SP3 and now the one user name
in Documents & Settings is incorrect. I changed the username in Control
Panels/Users and also using Regedit to change it under
HLM/Software/Microsoft/WindowsNT/CurrentVersion. This all went fine but the
user name on the Folder is D&S is still incorrect.

Logon at startup is correct.

Any ideas on where/how I can change this last remnant of my mistake would be
appreciated.

Thanks!

You can't just change the name. That is cosmetic and will not affect the
true user account identification. You must create a new user account with
the correct name and then copy the old account to it. You do this while
logged into a third account (not the ones being copied from and to). You
must log into the new correct account once before you can copy anything to
it. It is very quickly and easily done.

The user profile folders (C:\Documents and Settings\Username)
_cannot_ be renamed, without risky registry editing, even if the
associated user account has been. So, your best course of action would
be to log on using the built-in Administrator account, create a new user
account, with the username desired. Once you've logged in using this
new account (and transfered any data you need to preserve, you can then
delete the old user account(s).
