Windows often forgets folder size and view

Every now and again, maybe 2 or three times a week, I open a commonly used folder
which I have previously set to a specific size, position and view, and find it has
been reset to its default size an position, and that the selected view has been
lost. It seems to pick a view at random, usually Icon, List or Tiles. Sometime
sub-folders of the folder are also affected, sometimes not.

What could be the reason for this? Is there anything I can do to stop this
happening as it is most annoying to keep loosing the settings.

I have already set the BagMRU size to 8000. I am confidant at editing the registry
if required.

Paul.

Re: Windows often forgets folder size and view

Sometimes it's not only necessary to increase the BagMRU Size
limit, but also remove existing bags. Unfortunately, this results in
the loss of previously set Window views. This needs to be done
for both Shell and ShellNoRoam settings. Remove and re-create
the Bags Key. It's an extreme measure so I'd export the "Bags"
keys before making any changes.

Before doing those operations, be sure the Folder Options, View
(TAB) "Remember each folder's view settings" is checked.

Try recreating the eky again or try the reg fix from the link below.
Also make sure the machine malware and virus free. Do you have a security
software that can reverse back your chnages on Reboot/Restart?

Your view settings or customizations for a folder are lost or incorrect

Increase Folder View Size Limit to 8000

Did you tried the TweakUI?

Re: Windows often forgets folder size and view

Use this VBScript to set your folder views:

Folder View Master by MS-MVP Keith Miller (no homepage anymore)
http://mysite.verizon.net/res18hr7/FVM3.zip or
http://members.home.nl/alsdewiedeweerga/Scripts/FVM3/FVM3.rar

Just follow its directions. If you want to master folder views too, just ask.

Thanks for that link. I will give it a try.
