I have 2 servers, identical hardware, that run Server 2003 R2 (Std Ed) w/SP2.
Each server has a share for home directories. The permissions are set as
follows on both servers:
1)Domain Admins - Full Control - This folder, subfolders, and files
2)Everyone - List Folder / Read Data (under the advanced settings) - This
folder only
3)Inheritance is blocked/removed
On Server1, any user can click into the share and view the folders and
files, but not read/modify anything. On Server2, users outside of the Domain
Admins group cannot even get into the share. I used the Effective Permissions
tab to see if something looked odd, but they were the same for both servers
with the same user.
Why do these servers handle the same permissions in different manners?
Please help.
