When trying to access the internet, upon the initial try, my computer
will not connect. It does not allow me to even click out as it is
telling me it is not responding for a long time. Eventually I can get
the message that windows is looking for a solution and I can put down
the window.

So, what I have to do to get on the internet is click on internet
explorer a second time, even as the ohter window might be still
searching and locked up. Then it comes right up, or I might have to try
a third time. This is a Gateway computer GT5411E. Running windows XP.

I have the compter virus protected by mcafee, with firewall and have
run Registry Fix and spybot.

Any suggestions?

[X-post to IE General]

Always state your IE version and full Windows version (e.g., WinXP SP3) when
posting to this newsgroup, please.

Think your Registry needs "cleaning" or "repairing"? Read
http://aumha.net/viewtopic.php?t=28099 and draw your own conclusions. (Your
use of "Registry Fix" may have caused the problem in the first place!)
