System Restore not seeing 'C' drive

In the System Restore tab of System Properities, the only "available drives"
are my 'D' & 'E' drives. How do I get System Restore to monitor 'C' again?
Don't know what happened but when I went to restore to a previous point, this
is the dialog box that popped up:

---------------------------
Changes made to drive(s) C:\ after this point cannot be reversed because
the drive was either excluded from System Restore monitoring, or was turned
off or removed.

If C: hasnt been included for some odd reason,try turning off system restore
on all hds,go to run,type:cmd In cmd type:CHKDSK C: /F Agree to restart,
type:EXIT Restart pc.Back in xp,turn on restore,go to tools,open restore,set
a restore date/time.

Hi Andrew. Thanks for the reply! I appreciate the help.
I followed your steps as suggested but when I go back into System Restore
after those steps, all I see are the D & E drives and status is "monitoring"
but no 'C' drive. What's next?

Try this:

Right-click My Computer and select Properties. Click on the System
Restore tab.

Is C: one of your available drives? If so, what is its status? If it's
turned off, you may use the Settings button to change its status to
Monitoring.

First thing is to run Services.Msc and make sure the System Restore
Service is started and set to "Automatic" mode. Unless the Service is
actively running you cannot add/remove volumes from being monitored.
Click Start, Run (Type) Services.Msc
Locate System Restore in the listing and check it's status.

OK, I ran services.msc and System Restore is shown to be running and set to
"automatic".
In the upper left-hand corner of that services window is a stop and restart
option. OK to tell it to restart? Couldn't hurt anything, huh?

instructions and my system created a new "drivetable.txt" file but still no
'C' drive in the "available drives" window. :-(

Oops, I missed that part!

Double-click My Computer. When I do so, other than "Files Stored on This
Computer," I see two other sections: Hard Disk Drives and Devices with
Removable Storage.

What do D: and E: refer to on your PC? What other drives are listed?

Those are actually my smaller, secondary drives. I use those mainly for
backing up stuff. 'C' is my main boot drive.

Start | Run | %systemroot% [enter]

Hopefully it says C:\WINDOWS in the address bar. Does it?

Do you have three physical hard drives?

I wonder if one of the times you installed one of your newer hard
drives, your System Restore got corrupted somehow.

Assuming Windows is installed on your C: drive, reinstall System Restore
using the instructions here:

http://bertk.mvps.org/html/reinstall.html

Make sure System Restore is only enabled for C: drive. That is, stop SR
from monitoring D: and E:.

Yes, I saw C:\WINDOWS in address bar.

Yes, I will re-install System Restore but can't mess with it right now. I
