You should have someone that is computer savvy do what is mentioned in the

link to check out the O/S.

If the O/S is an OEM version, which means the O/S was pre-installed by HP,

then the very first thing you should have done is make those recovery

DVD(s), so that you can re-install the O/S. You should get on the phone with

HP about this, or find someone that is computer savvy that can make those

DVD(s) for you.


It seems to me that the system is so corrupted that you're going to need

those recovery DVD(s) to format the HD and re-install the O/S.


And whatever you do, you should take the computer to someone that knows

about Vista, because that campus IT person you went to doesn't know jack

about Vista.
