My wife has a Lenovo laptop, running XP pro, which she uses with a "desktop"
corded keyboard & mouse when she works in her office. Both are PS/2
devices, connected with this adapter to a USB port:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812101117 Whenever
the laptop goes to sleep, the corded mouse ceases to function unless she
reboots. Both keyboards continue to function, as does the touchpad mouse on
the laptop; only the corded mouse gives up the ghost. A previous cordless
USB mouse (now lost) had no such difficulties. Is there a cure for this?

Thanks in advance,

Dan

Seeing that mice are so cheap, I would replace the PS/2 mouse with a true
USB mouse.

Thanks for the reply. I may end up doing that if the problem can't be
eliminated with some setting/config change. My wife's not the most computer
savvy person in the world, it's easier for her to just have the one wire to
connect/disconnect.

Re: XP Pro mouse problem.

Set the USB root Hub to not enter a power savings mode. This
way when the PC resumes from Hibernate/Standby the USB to
PS/2 won't be "Asleep".

Thanks for the reply. I looked under "Power options", but found nothing
specific to USB. Where would this setting be?

Thanks
