You need permission to perform this action is the message when I try and
delete a folder so how can I delete the folder?

Re: You need permission to perform this action

Add Take Ownership to right-click menu in Vista:

Re: You need permission to perform this action

Hi,

I tried holding down Shift and right-clicking but the option is not there.
Is this a configuration issue? What do I need to change to enable this option
when pressing Shift.

Thanks

No, it's not there. You would need a registry hack installed by some 3rd
party solution that put the menu option there in the context menu to
take ownership.

Don't know. All that I know is that it IS there on mine. I might
have used some tip/trick I found on the 'net somewhere to put it there
but I don't recall.

SO... I used Google and came up with this (doesn't need SHIFT):

http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/wind...ership-to-explorer-right-click-menu-in-vista/

Same but using TinyURL:

Re: You need permission to perform this action

You can get the script here:
http://www.paulsxp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=163&p=292#p292
This script will add Take Ownership to the right click menu.

Re: You need permission to perform this action

You obviously did use the registry hack, Paul. The take ownership option
isn't available in Vista by default.

That doesn't work on my version of Vista (Home Premium). That option is NOT
there when holding down the SHIFT key and right clicking on a file.

The site says it can change values and cause components to not work
correctly.

Re: You need permission to perform this action

All my scripts say that and all .reg files have the same warring, that way
you can make a restore point before you run the script or .reg file.
