Explorer doesn't explore sometimes

Of late, Windows Explorer often takes ages to open up on a Windows XP Pro
SP2 notebook. And the Dr Watson bugger comes up and the shell restarts.
All updates installed, works perfectly otherwise.
Also, one gets the ~another process is accessing the file~ error very often
when deleting files. Unlocker takes care of that pretty effectively though.
Don't now if related - Windows also takes ages to shut down when the
explorer issue occurs - no end-process messages though..
No other error messages. Clear page-file at shut-down is disabled.
CHKDSK /F and SFC /scannow run without effect.
We would appreciate any insights into what to look for.
Regards and TIA.

Yes, it works perfectly except for those occasions you cited. I don't
believe I would be quite so tolerant of them. Dr Watson is a debugger, and
it only runs when a program crashes.
My opinion is that all of these events are the result of malware. And, if
this were my computer, I would first do a thorough check with Davud Lipmans'
MULTI_AV product. Sorry, I don't have a url for it, but surely an internet
search can find it.

He said he would stop Stalking me If I stopped mentioning his name.
As you can see that does not work. He is a sick obsessive STALKER.

Do you really want to trust someone that was banned from posting
directly to Microsoft Usenet servers, someone that has posted links to
pornographic materials on HIS WEBSITE, who's website is in the MVP HOST
Block list, and who provides a tool for your use that will block access
to reputable anti-malware sites without telling you he's doing it?

Do you really want to trust someone that has had to change their posting
identity after being busted by MS as a fake MVP?

Stalking, even in usenet is a crime, there are enough pages from your
filthy site to prove you're stalking me in your posts, I have them
documented and certified authentic - it's your call now Stalker.

Download MULTI_AV.EXE from the URL --

or

or
http://212.98.39.7/downloads/dl/35905.asp

English:
http://www.raymond.cc/blog/archives/2008/01/09/scan-your-computer-with-multiple-anti-virus-for-free/

To use this utility, perform the following...
Execute; Multi_AV.exe { Note: You must use the default folder C:\AV-CLS }
Choose; Unzip
Choose; Close

Execute; C:\AV-CLS\StartMenu.BAT
{ or Double-click on 'Start Menu' in C:\AV-CLS }

NOTE: You may have to disable your software FireWall or allow WGET.EXE to go through your
FireWall to allow it to download the needed AV vendor related files.

C:\AV-CLS\StartMenu.BAT -- { or Double-click on 'Start Menu' in C:\AV-CLS}
This will bring up the initial menu of choices and should be executed in Normal Mode.
This way all the components can be downloaded from each AV vendor's web site.
The choices are; Sophos, Trend, McAfee, Kaspersky, Exit this menu and Reboot the PC.

You can choose to go to each menu item and just download the needed files or you can
download the files and perform a scan in Normal Mode. Once you have downloaded the files
needed for each scanner you want to use, you should reboot the PC into Safe Mode [F8 key
during boot] and re-run the menu again and choose which scanner you want to run in Safe
Mode. It is suggested to run the scanners in both Safe Mode and Normal Mode.

When the menu is displayed hitting 'H' or 'h' will bring up a more comprehensive PDF help
file.
