Looking for best defrag program

Is there a consensus out there about the best defrag program for XP?
Diskeeper or Perfect Disk, or are the differences negligible? Is there
another contender I should consider?

Auslogics is the fastest but Iobit Smart Defrag

http://www.majorgeeks.com/JkDefrag_GUI_d5620.html are the most efficient for
removing the blank space in between with their optimizing feature.
Smart Defrag can be scheduled to run at certain times or when idle & it claims to be
able to move the most used files to the front of the drive.

I like Auslogics for a quick defrag-especially when I'm running it on a machine that
the owner has never defragged before.

Two other noteworthy contenders are Auslogics and JkDefrag, both are free.
Auslogics is faster, has an easy to use and read interface and log, but
has no optimize feature;(you have to buy to get it). Also, you cannot
set-up a scheduled task,(not until the next version anyway).
JkDefrag is slower, also easy to use, plus it optimizes. Log is not as
good, but you can set-up a scheduled task to run.
Overall, between the two, my choice was JkDefag. It seems to do a better
job.
But, the choice is yours, their are lots of defrag programs out there.

You should consider using Microsoft programs---they are error free and thus
eliminates the habit of cluttering up your system with unneeded programs.

Google Ccleaner , Defraggler - both good / clean and defrags . ( and
free )

Ahhh. The things you learn if only you take the time to read. Now I know
that Microsoft programs are error free. That sure takes a load off of my
mind. But if it is true, as I've been told, that MS's defrag is a
recycled/rehashed version of the old Norton defrag does that mean that
_all_ old Norton programs are error free too? It gets so confusing sometimes...

Stop and think. The defrag that comes with XP has been well tested. It's
problem, if any, is only from other trash users install on their systems.
You must then ask yourself why install other trash/programs not needed and
clutter up your system?
I.E. Use common sense. If you don't care, just install anything with the
name Norton.

party defrag tools use the Windows function, but they provide better
control.
