I recently reinstalled my xp proffessional due to numerous errors. I
completed this, but now i can't double click to open my hard drive or I can't
double click on flash drives to open them. I have searched this site, and I
have searched help. I was just wondering if anyone new how to fix this. I
appreciate any assistance.

In my view, doing that is far more often a mistake than a good thing
to do. You go through a lot of trouble to do it, and may even do it
wrong. Moreover, you do it without finding out what caused your
problems, so you are very likely to quickly repeat the behavior that
caused the problems, and soon find yourself back where you were.

Okay, the next time the OP will know better.

In the meantime, do you have any positive suggestions for him to try?

Search opens when double clicking a folder. See Line #18

http://windowsxp.mvps.org/searchwindow.htm

Same fix, though a different symptom.

Try the Drive, Directory and Folder association fixes here:

Re: double clikcing to open drives

I downloaded all the possible items from all the websites. I all so did the
quick fix of typing in the regsvr/ishell32.dll in the run menu. nothing has
worked. I can right click and still open the drives that way. I was just
wondering would you or anyone maybe no of anymore posssible fixes or will I
just have to right click and use open.

1. You can also try the LNK fix at http://dougknox.com/xp/file_assoc.htm
That is for where you double-click desktop or Start Menu icons and the
programs don't open.

2. Look for Autorun.inf in the root of those drives, and delete if found.

3. http://www.dougknox.com/xp/scripts/xp_folder_open.vbs

4. Continue a Google Groups search here:
