Unfortunatly Vista was not up to scratch so I went back to XP I have
everything but my audio drivers. I have a HP pavillion Desktop and Hp have no
drivers for Win XP. I have tried a few methods given to me and the latest is
to install realtek hd audio driver but an error comes up saying bus driver
needs to be installed first.
The audio is on board but xp tells me there is no audio device.
Does anybody have any sugestions? If all else fails would it be better for
me to buy a audio card and install that or would i get the same error?
Thanks

RE: Audio drivers help

If HP hasn't a driver for it, that is about it.
Try below for peace of mind, you never know!
Click Start>Right-click My Computer>Properties>Hardware>Device Manager.

Right-click on the (?) Sound there>Properties> see if it can find a suitable
Driver on the Net.

If not, go with your other idea; grab an AOpen, etc PCI Sound Card for about
$20

RE: Audio drivers help

Thanks Mick,
I figured it might be the best way to go but its good to have someone
confirm my suspisions. I will keep an eye on the thread because it seems more
people are experiencing the same problem. There is no options to search for
drivers online. The only drivers in the sound section is legacy audio
drivers. If I try to update them it searches the pc or slected files but
finds nothing even though i have downloaded about 20 different audio drivers
to choose from. HP are not helpfull in the slightest.

RE: Audio drivers help

I've always found Audio drivers a pain to find, when they are onboard. If it
was an XP reinstall it would be simple. They would be at HP, or you would
have a CD for the Motherboard Drivers.
Normally in Device manager, you can click a radio button to allow net search
this one time, instead of looking in the computer HD, or CD RoM
