Over the past few days when I bootup my computer, the System Configuration
Utility window pops up. It has the following message:

You have used the Sys Config Utility to make changes to the way Windows
starts.

.....is currently in Diagnostic or Selective Startup mode, causing the
message to be displayed and the utility to run every time Windows starts.

Choose the Normal Startup mode on the General tab to start Windows normally
and undo the changes you made using the SCU.

I don't recall making any changes to startup..Can I just select Normal
Startup mode, or is something else going on and if so, what should I do?
Thanks in advance,

sheana

There is no way for me to guess what you've done, but the Systen
Configuration Utility window doesn't appear magically all by itself.
Someone used msconfig.

There is a small checkbox in the lower left corner of this window that says
something along the lines of "don't show this window again and don't bother
me". Click it and close the window and you won't see the message again.

Scroll down to this section: Steps to configure Windows to use a Normal
startup state
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310353

Another one Open a run command and type in:
msconfig. On the System Configuration Utilitiy click on General Tab then
Check mark this Radio Button:
(*) Normal startup-load all device drivers and software.
Click [Apply] then [OK] and Reboot your machine, does it help?

How can I possibly answer that? You've told us nothing about your computer
or its recent history. Others have told you how to undo any changes made
with msconfig but *someone* made those changes for some reason. You need to
figure out who, what, and why and without knowing anything further I can't
guess.
