Free "Publisher" type prog available?

My friend doesn't have Publisher but her daughter is using Publisher for a
school project.

Is any similar programme available for a free download that will enable her
to tweak her project at home?

AFAIK only Publisher will open and write to Publisher files. And AFAIK,
there is no free version of MS Publisher available. You have to buy it.

I'm not sure what the purpose of that link was, but learning any of
those programs is a pretty steep learning curve just to "tweak"
programs; or if Studio would even open them.

Unfortunately I don't think you'll find any freebie Publisher like
programs, or at least not ones that will open & allow editing of
Publisher files. It's completely propietary and hard to find out
anything about.

However, is she is a student, MS does have student editions of Publisher
for almost reasonable prices, and they can be downloaded in the form of
trial versions to get a quick start with it.
