Re: Internet Explorers

The default one is the short cut without any other
designations and is 32-bit, which is also where your add-ons
work with.

The one with the '64 bit' designation is just that, the
64-bit version of I.E. 8, but currently is no add-on/plug-in
support for it - no Java, no Flash Player, etc.

The on designated 'no add-ons' is the default 32-bit I.E.8
with everything disabled when it opens - just a nekid explorer.

Bobby,
That would be IE7 instead of IE8.
And I also guess that "nekid" refers to "naked", uh?

Re: Internet Explorers

Re: Internet Explorers

Hi, Judith.

So, as the others said, you actually have TWO Internet Explorers: one
32-bit and one 64-bit version of the same program. (If you had only the
32-bit Vista installed, you would have only 32-bit IE installed, but in
64-bit Vista, you have them both.)

Vista comes with IE7, so that's what you have if you haven't downloaded and
installed the IE8 beta. If you did, then you have the two (32 and 64)
versions of IE8b2.

In either case, as Bobby said, you can run the 32-bit IE without add-ons if
you choose.

The 32-bit version is the one that is set to run by default. It is
C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe. You can run the
64-bit IE by clicking on C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe.
(If you are new to 64-bit Windows, you might not have noticed that all
32-bit apps are in Program Files (x86); 64-bit apps are in Program Files
WITHOUT the (x86) designation. No, I don't know why MSFT chose to use this
foldername arrangement rather than create a new Program Files (x64)).

Re: Internet Explorers

Thanks, Carlos! I'm not sure why I typed in IE8 since I
know it's not RTM yet!

It should be 'nekkid' instead of 'nekid' - but, yes that's
what you do when you go swimmin' - you get nekkid before you
jump in swimmin' hole!

Bobby,
English is not my native language so I was not aware of the "nekkid"
expression though I was suspecting that something was hiding behind that
mispelled word.

Re: Internet Explorers

Ah, Carlos, you should have followed the adventures of Fat Freddy and his
friends (and cat!), by Sidney Sheldon and all of Robert Crumb's creations.

There once was a Robert Crumb Museum Web Site - might be worth a visit?

Gilbert Shelton [sic] did The Adventures of the Fabulous Furry Freak
Brothers (Fat Freddy, Freewheelin' Franklin, and Phineas Freak). Freddy's
cat is certainly one of my favorite characters.

I think Crumb's work comes off as more tormented than Sheldon's.
(I can't say more _demented_, seeing as how Shelton also did the
Wonder Warthog stuff).

Re: Internet Explorers

Re: Internet Explorers

Yes, I have a preciously short selection of the mags right beside me (in
case of unforeseen emergencies) and noticed my horrible mistake a few
seconds after hitting 'Send' - Sidney Sheldon is quite a different, and
memorable creator in his own right

I can only agree, the 'brothers' have a positive and humorous air about them
that Crumb's characters are mostly lacking, but then, Robert was (is?)
probably just that sort of character himself - no, I like their open minded
perversities very much regardless. For the greater volume of the past 30
years or more - whenever I was about to feel a little depressed, I wipped
out a Mr. Natural album and instantly saw that I wasn't so bad off after
all!!! Very uplifting!!! The best Moral Booster on this planet.

You probably need to see beyond Crumb's upfront 'sleeze' to notice the
unusual intelligence of his work. And all of this tought me a lot of US
'english' that I could never have picked up anywhere this side of the
Atlantic. And Fat Freddy's Cat has to be number one on any scale.

(Oh, and I wasn't even aware of WW being Gilberts creation)

Re: Internet Explorers

Wow. What an education I received from ya'll. Yes, I am new to 64-bit, but
so far everything is running like a charm with the exception of an infrared
extender problem that I believe is a HP hardware problem. Have not
downloaded IE8 beta yet. Thanks for all replies. It is appreciated.
