We are having issues with our exchange 2003 server. For some reason, the
Exchange System Attendant wont start. It comes up with Error 1068: The
depedency or service group failed to start

We need a fix asap as there are alot of people in our company which rely on
the exchange server to run (for obvious reasons).

All permissions are in place, we have restarted DNS, and rebooted our Active
Directory servers.

Please advise

Regards

Hello Flaps,

Check the size of the disk where the database and the transaction logs are
stored, If the disk is full Exchange stops working, because it needs to write
the logs.

Re: Ugent help with Exchange 2003 System attendant

We have checked the disks, and they are currently fine. They have plenty of
space avaliable...

We are currently running that tool advised by JohnB (thnks btw John) and
seeing what results appear on there.

Thank you for your input. Much appreciated

Hello Flaps,

Check the event viewer, you should find some errors there.

Yea, we are contantly checking the event log, it seems that after we have
done some changes, we are now getting the error saying that there is an
account login failure.

Where are the exchange login details found?

Re: Ugent help with Exchange 2003 System attendant

Hello Flaps,

What kind of changes have you done before? Also check here:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/327401

Again, please post the complete event viewer entries.

Also you should post this to Exchange NG.

Flaps

You should really post this over to the exchange newsgroup and specifically to

Re: Ugent help with Exchange 2003 System attendant

Sorry Peter, What we have decided to do is build a new exchange, it seems
that the one we got is pretty much on its last legs, and has been having
problems now for a while.
Luckily we have full backups of everything and the priv and pub files to
transfer accross to the new exchange.

Sorry if it feels like I am ignoring your help, it was quite the opposite
and I appreciate everyones involvement with this.

It is a case of urgency as we have a number of users all over the country
needing an exchange to be running.

But thanks all for your help, again, much appreciated.
