Running XP, SP3. Someone reset the UPS time to 15 seconds until reboot.
Because the system can't find the UPS, it immediately shuts down. I have
about 10 seconds to get to Control Panel and Power Managment before it shuts
down. I tried with a boot from CD app, but it will not allow me to run any
applicatons (like for power mgmt). Does anyone have a suggestion?

As soon as you can, press Windows Start-R and type powercfg.cpl and
click the UPS tab. That should only take a few seconds.

Or try starting in Safe Mode?

Re: Power Management Reboots PC

I booted in safe mode, went to c:\windows\system32 and entered control
powercfg.cpl. From there I was able to reconfigure the Power Options applet
at my leisure. Rebooted and my frustrations went away. Thanks Terry.
