External HDD shows up in Device Manager but not Explorer

I have an old Quantum Go120A laptop hard drive that I want to install
in a 2.5" external case and hook up to my desktop to copy off all the
old data and then wipe clean.

Device Manager recognizes and correctly identifies the hard drive, but
unfortunately it doesn't show up in My Computer, Explorer or Disk
Management. Further, the "Device Status" box on its property sheet in
Device Manager says "This device is working properly."

How can I get my system to recognize this drive so I can access the
data one last time?

Re: External HDD shows up in Device Manager but not Explorer

Use disk management to give the drive a letter.

Re: External HDD shows up in Device Manager but not Explorer

Thanks, Richard, but as noted, the drive doesn't show up in Disk
Management either.
