Just got a new usb 4g SanDisk Cruzer jump drive. Plugged into my desktop and
it worked fine. Copied files to and from.
Plugged into my laptop and Windows XP SP3 sees the new drive being installed
in the tray but when I go to "My Computer" the system doesn't give me a
drive icon.
I can go to "CMD" prompt and change to f: and type"dir" and it sees the
drive in DOS.

Use Window Explorer, if it's there then it should be in "My Computer"
That's the prob. The only place I find it is in the CMD prompt. I see it in
System, Hardware and it is assigned drive f:. It just doesn't show up in the
Windows GUI.

If you can access it from the command prompt
it should be seen in Windows Explorer.
Right click on "My Computer" and go to "Manage"
then from disk management see how the drive letter is assigned.
