Hi there ,i recently bought a second hand PC with window's already installed
i tried to get windows media 11 but was told me OS was not genuine and i`m
not impressed with the seller, that aside i`m going to buy a key from
microsoft online my question is i will be upgrading this pc with a new
motherboard/hard drive and the like in a year or two. If i was to do this
could i still use the XP cd and product key that i bought online from
microsoft,on the new system i built and it would it be genuine and be able
to download updates/ directx 10 ect ?

Re: Buying windows xp advantage kit need help on uphrade

yeah, you should have
no problem.

however, if you do switch
out motherboards, then
your o.s. will see the mobo
as new hardware and you
will have to reinstall the o.s.
with your cd.

the above is due primarily
to prevent piracy.
