I have Windows Vista Business and can't download any updates. I get the
error code 80244019. I also can't get any updates for windows defender
and get the error 0x80244019. I noticed yesterday in my internet
protocol version 4 (tcp/ipv4) properties that it was using the following
DNS server addresses: 85.255.155.140 and 85.255.112.157. I always
automatically obtain a DNS server address so I think the virus that I
had on it previously changed that option. I changed it back to
automatically obtain the DNS address but still have problems. Please
Help! I've been searching all over for a solution to my problem.

Here's my hijackthis log:

Re: Can't download updates! I keep getting error 80244019

We do not work with HijackThis logs in public newsgroups.

You've got a WareOut infection (at the very least). Run a /thorough/ check
for hijackware, including posting your hijackthis log to an appropriate
forum.

When all else fails, HijackThis v2.0.2
(http://aumha.org/downloads/hijackthis.exe) is the preferred tool to use (in
conjunction with some other utilities). HijackThis will NOT fix anything on
its own, but it will help you to both identify and remove any
hijackware/spyware with assistance from an expert. **Post your log to
http://spywarehammer.com/simplemachinesforum/index.php?board=10.0,
http://forums.spybot.info/forumdisplay.php?f=22,
http://aumha.net/viewforum.php?f=30, or another appropriate forum for review
by an expert in such matters, not here.**

If the procedures look too complex - and there is no shame in admitting this
isn't your cup of tea - take the machine to a local, reputable and
independent (i.e., not BigBoxStoreUSA or Geek Squad) computer repair shop.

Re: Can't download updates! I keep getting error 80244019

Thank you Engel and PA Bear. Turns out, I scanned my computer with
Spybot - Search and Destroy and it found and fixed 64 malware/spyware
issues. I then restarted and was able to download the updates! I wish I
would have scanned with this program a LONG time ago instead of relying
on just norton and malwarebytes. Thank you so much for your responses
again and take care!
