Hi!

Today i turned on my laptop and this Windows Boot Manager appeared:

*Windows failed to start. a recent hardware or software change might be
the cause. to fix the problem.

1.insert your windows installation disc and restart your computer.
2.choose your language settings and then click "next"
3.click "repair your computer"

if you do not have this disc contact your system administrator or
computor manufacturer for assistance

file:\Boot\BCD
state : 0xc000000f

info : an error occurred while attempting to read the boot
configuration data.*

What is this?? I dont want to boot my pc! It just appear
like that.. so i thought there might be an error so i inserted the Asus
Recovery DVD (its the only one i have) i restarted my laptop as told but
nothing happened. I searched the net for more information and i read
that i have to create a bootdisk, insert in that bootdisk the BCD file
and go to google to find a DOS file?? I dont understand.

Please if anyone can help me. I dont want to reinstall Vista, just want
to return to my "everyday" windows..

Thanks a lot!

Re: WINDOWS BOOT MANAGER problem

Hi,

What you need to do is run bootrec /rebuild from the command line in the
recovery environment (WinRE). Whether or not your recovery disk is capable
of this I do not know, but the first step is to get into the system BIOS and
set the bootable drives so that it (the CD/DVD drive) is loaded before the
hard drive. This should allow you to boot to the disk.

Re: WINDOWS BOOT MANAGER problem

Hi Starbuckme,

Luckily, it is not asking you to reinstall Vista - just to replace the
boot files.

The Asus thing they gave is probably only able to overwrite your entire
system with the factory image.

You need either the MS dvd, or the neosmart recovery disc, which is
available for free download , then do a startup repair.

Hope it helps
