Good morning!

I wanted to ask what the general consensus is with respect to deploying the
'latest and greatest' Windows Desktop Search software running on Terminal
Server.

Just to be clear - my opinion is that it really affects performance (in a
negative way).

Assuming that others have the same opinion is there anything that can be
done (outside of removing it...).

Thanks,

Cary

Re: Windows Desktop Search on Terminal Servers

I'd agree that it's a negative. Worse yet, as I recall, I was forced in to
installing it for Office 2007. If not, the users would be constantly nagged
to install it. I hate all these stupid attempts at index based searching
(ms, google, etc). They hog too many resources for something that only gets
used once in a while.

If you find that have to live with it, the best you can do is to minimize
the stuff it indexes (see the options for it).

Re: Windows Desktop Search on Terminal Servers

Anthony,

I will do and will let you know how that goes.

I guess that my follow question (rhetorical) would be - setting the options:
per user setting or global setting?

I will figure that out when I do this....

Heavens, no way.... Last thing I would want on a TS server is something
that is constantly taking up cycles...
