Net Framework Initialization Error

Awhile ago, when Net. 1.1 started to be used for utility installs, I
installed Net. 1.1. I no longer use Net-required utilities.

This AM, I uninstalled Net 1.1. I used Revo Uninstaller, removed leftover
debris from registry.

On reboot, now I see a screen:

Net Framework Initialization Error, to resolve this install Net.1.1...

The screen requires Cancel to continue to load windows.

I will not reinstall Net, the invasive nature of Net utilities is why I
avoid them.

How to remove the screen? It apparently did not uninstall cleanly and Revo
did not remove all of it.

Re: Net Framework Initialization Error

I doubt if it's possible but try asking them here.

microsoft.public.dotnet.framework
microsoft.public.dotnet.framework.setup

Thanks, Dave, I will look into that. Or, if no luck there, go back a few
days in registry, leave Net 1 in place.

Using Erunt, I just restored a registry 2 days old, 2 days before I
uninstalled Net 1.

But I am still seeing that screen.

?

Re: Net Framework Initialization Error

Have you reinstalled dotnet framework? The file system must support the
registry settings.

No, I didn't. Please amplify your comment about file system relative to the
Net error screen.

Also, I thought an earlier registry really backs up in time.

Re: Net Framework Initialization Error

{hypothetical}
If you uninstall an application, then later restore the registry to an
earlier date the application is still broken since the file system is
missing things related to the application.
{hypothetical}

I understood your comment in that you were trying to undo the damage of
uninstalling dotnet.

Thanks, Dave

I am now downloading Net 1.1, will try the MS newsgroups you mentioned, but
if no luck, will install Net 1.1 again, hope that kills the error screen.
