Hi,

On a Windows Server 2003 SP2 file server, we have a folder, only one folder,
that does not have a security tab and that we cannot delete or rename in
explorer. We get the "Cannot delete file. Cannot read the source file or
disk." error message. The folder is empty. I tried to delete it in a command
prompt window with "rd" with I get the "The system cannot find the file
specified." error message.

Here is the full path of the folder: "C:\usr\automatisation\Contrat R&D\2007
CONTRAT\3007-5208 - Alcan LaBaie - systeme P155 Optimise\Programmation\PROG
TWIDO\PROG_TWIDO 79 " (note the space at the end).

Any idea how to get rid of this folder ?

Thanks.

Re: Errant folder

I'd try going into the folder just above it and doing a dir /w. This will
show you the short foldername (like PROG_T~1 or something), and you can try
to remove the directory using that name.

Re: Errant folder

Hi,

Simple but effective ! I used dir /x though. dir /w did not give me a short
filename.

Thanks a lot.
