Hi, when I shut down windows I am getting the following window :

End Program - deviceIO - program not responding

then

End Program - hpqste08.exe - program not responding.

I have to wait for the program to try and end, but then have to click end
program. Doesnt seem to be affecting windows but it is nagging me! The only
programs I have installed since getting my laptop last week are the software
for my HP printer, adobe and itunes.

If anyone has any suggestions I'd be very grateful!

Try the following:

Go to Start > Run and enter REGEDIT and press OK. This fires up the
registry editor.

Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop. Edit the
following keys:

1) AutoEndTasks: Default is 0, make it 1

Reboot. Next time it shut's down it should not prompt you to end task.
This is some junk put in by HP.

Alternatively, get rid of the junk that HP installed.

As with most HP marriages, you have to take along the baggage.
