Please help! This is killing me.

I have a desktop PC running Vista Ultimate. I have been syncing all my
Outlook stuff on that PC with my Samsung i760 SmartPhone for about a
year now. It has worked fairly well, with the typical intermittent
problems Windows is known for.

However, recently the phone and the PC stopped syncing completely.
Since I live and die by my appointments, tasks and contacts on my phone
during the day, not being able to sync really has me dead in the water!
Now when I connect my phone to the PC via the USB cable, they both
"recognize" that they are connected, but instead of Windows Mobile
Device Center (Sync Center) popping up and performing the sync like it
always has, now I get a window that pops up asking me to select which
action to take... 1. Sync digital media files with Windows Media Player,
2. Open device to view files with Windows Explorer, etc. There is NO
option to run Sync Center. Even when I go into the Default Programs in
the Control Panel and look in the drop-down list beside "Windows
Mobile-based device", it does not give me an option for Sync Center.
I've also checked under MSCONFIG and Windows Mobile Device Center IS
checked as a Startup item.

Even if I manually open up Sync Center and try to "Set up new sync
partnerships", it shows my phone in the device list, but when I
double-click on it, Windows Media Player immediately opens up instead of
Sync Center.

I am frustrated beyond words trying to figure this out, and I really
need someone's help if anybody else has run into this. I'll be happy to
provide any and all additional information to try and help.

Thanks in advance!
