opening screen

I can't get rid of a message under my user name on opening screen "1 undread
mail message", and I can find no such mail. Using aol.com and firefox.

Thanks for your response, but it is a bit too cryptic for my 82 year old mind
to grasp. Just where are these lines you mention? I hope it is not the
"Registry", for I don't think I want to venture there.

Go to the link, read the instructions in the header, then scroll down to
the line number indicated, and follow the instructions you read.

If clicking line 100 gave you text, you need to right-click the line 100
link and click Save. Save the .reg file to the Desktop, or somewhere
else that you can find it, then double-click the saved .reg file. That
should make the registry change and disable the mail notice during startup.
