Hi,

My HP 8000 is installed on 64-bit windows 2003 server and share to all
users, however Vista user get problem when install driver from the server. I
can install the driver locally on the vista PC, how can I add network shared
port like \\MyServerName\PrinterShareName on Vista. I don't want to add local
TCP/IP port.

Any help will be appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Local Port

Is the Vista machine 32 or 64 bit?

Since the 8000 was included with Server 2003 are you using this driver? You
would need to add the 32 bit driver (use Have Disk and point to a 32 bit
Server 2003 CD) for the 32 bit clients.

If you are using a driver from HP, you would need to get a 32bit driver with
the exact name from HP.

Re: network Printer issue for Vista

Hi Alan,

Thank you so much! yes, the driver can be found in Windows 2003 32-bit CD.
Since I just have 64-bit CD, I downloaded the trial version 2003 from MS to
get the driver. I want to mention that the driver from HP website doesn't
work.

I have another HP printer which Vista has problem to install driver from
server. It's HP 2015dn. I have the driver for vista on the printer server,
however one Vista get error message like below:

Windows cannot connect to the printer. Operation could not be completed.
(error 0x00000lxb).

but some Vista are OK to install printer driver from server. Please advice!

Thanks again,

Lisa

Re: network Printer issue for Vista

that's an invalid error code.

Good job going for the trial version. Most business moving to x64 servers
have some 32 bit machines as well so the drivers are on site.

Yes the 8000 driver from HP will kill the spooler process on Vista because
it checks the version on the OS and terminates since it is not 5.2 or less.

All the new drivers from HP have an updated file for the OS check and
recognize version 6.

Yes, I've had issues with the 2015.

On the Vista machine that fails, can you remove any existing connections and
delete the print drivers, then try the connection again

Re: network Printer issue for Vista

Hi Alan,

No luck for 2015. I work around to install 2100 driver for 2015 from MS. It
works for Vista and XP now, however lost duplex printing feature. :(

Thanks you!
