Winupdate asking for saving before?

Hello, I'm surprised that my windows pops up offering to update but, it says
to save everything first. Because I'm having a little problem saving right
now, I wonder if I could go myself to update when I'm ready? If so, would
it be in the regular site for windows updating?

Thanks so much! Adela

Get anti-virus / anti-spyware scanning tools and check your PC.
Windows Updates should be requesting to save settings prior to
updating.

What problem are you having with saving ?
The message *should* be appearing when the updates attempt to install.
Unless you've Hidden the updates, the prompt to install them will be
reoffered as they've already been downloaded to the system.
If you need to unhide them, *right* click My Computer either on the
Desktop or the Start menu and choose Properties.
Click the Automatic Updates tab.
Now click the 'Offer updates again that I've previously hidden' link
towards the bottom of the window.

Yes, you can do it manually, and yes it's the regular update web site

Re: Winupdate asking for saving before?

Thank you, smlunatick... :o) it does request to save prior to updating
and that's why I was afraid to do it. I've been trying to save into Iomega
type diskettes and not too well versed, so I kept postponing the updating
until I could save my stuff, I can see now that I'll just have to go and
save and do the updating now. Thanks again. Adela

Re: Winupdate asking for saving before?

Thanks so much MowkGreen, I think you are so right, as I said to smlunatick
(funny name) :o) I'll just have to face the saving once and for all and
do the updating that comes to me so easily. I've been trying to save into
Iomega type diskettes and not too well versed, so I kept postponing until I
could do the saving, which I'll certainly try now. Thanks again. Adela

Re: Winupdate asking for saving before?

Hi and thanks sgopus, I decided that perhaps it is better that I face the
task of saving thought I'm not very savvy, and do the updates once and for
all. :o) Thanks again! Adela
