I set up outlook express. Why did I lose all my mail that was in my cableone
inbox?
Is there anyway I can retrieve it?

Re: email in outlook express

Your "cableone inbox" resides on the cableone server perhaps?

Re: email in outlook express

[X-post to OE General]

OE Tools | Accounts | Mail | [cableone] | Properties | Advanced | Delivery |
Leave a copy of messages on the server <=if this option is not enabled
(checked), all messages in your cableone inbox (webmail) will be deleted
after the messages download into OE.

If that option was not enabled, there's no way to get them back into your
webmail inbox except for Forwarding them to yourself.

Better to ask why you are asking here. Do you see OE or "cableone" in
this group's title? No.

Ask elsewhere

Probably no, unless it's still on the server - but if recieved to OE,
and deleted from server ~ it's gone.
but you now have the ability to set it up so this never happens again!
In Tools - Options - Maintenance,
and down the window a little on the right you'll see "Store Folder" -
click it...
and assign a new location to store all your email, inbox etc etc etc
and that location should be Off of "C" drive -

Now if you do Not have a partitioned drive, or a second drive - Google
up how to Partition a drive,
or if you like you could get a program to do it for you - such as
Norton Partition Magic.

With your email safely stored on another partition or other drive,-
even if you have to reinstall
Windows at some time - you just reset the Store folder to that
location on 'other' drive(as above) - and you have all your email
back.
So whether by fault, by program err, by virus ~ if "C" drive needs
recovering, or as said - even a full win reinstall - your email is
safe.
