.TMP files suddenly appearing everywhere?

All,

Suddenly, temp files with a .tmp suffix have begun to appear in various
folders.

It looks very much as if temp files associated with documents I've been
working on haven't been closed properly -- the files have file name
corresponding to a file I've been working on resently, adding some
gobbledygook and .TMP. So, for instance, myfile.ppt would create one or more
myfile.ppt~RFf097fa.TMP or similar.

It has begun some 4-6 days ago. I've added a few software packages but no
material changes. I have some 7.5GB free on a 65GB hard disk.

Thanks in advance
Henrik

I would suspect your Anti-Virus software is the cause. Does it have some
"Office addin" that can be disabled? Look through the Help in it.

Re: .TMP files suddenly appearing everywhere?

I doubt very seriously that your AV software has anything to do with it.
It's probably the result of closing down the program abruptly without
saving, have you had a crash while you had files open?
