I have windows XP and have no problem in accessing Explorer, MS Outlook or
any files or games saved on my PC. I can get in to them and work fine. My
problem is when I try to run my anti virus or "Webroot window washer" which I
have on the PC. Washer works fine until it gets to the point where it is
deleting TIF files. It then goes so slow it looks as if it has frozen - the
only way I know it is still going is the clock. It freezes everything else
though and the only way I can get out is to switch the PC off. The same with
an AV scan. It scans fine - until it gets to the TIF files - then it slows
down (25% cleared - saying further 6 hrs to clear?). I dont think it is my AV
software as it affects Washer also. It seems to be with the TIF files. I have
deleted these through Conrol Panel but still happens. Any ideas?

I'd suggest opening Internet Options and click Delete Files there, and
then click Settings, and reduce the Amont of space to use down to 50 meg
or so.

Re: Programs slowing considerably when going anywhere near TIF fil

Thanks Bob but I had already deleted all of the files via internet Options -
and was still geting slow (standstill) responses when my AV scan got to the
TIF files. The same happens with my window washer software. It deletes
everything else but then virtually stops when it gets to deleting the TIF
files (even though there should be none).

RE: Programs slowing considerably when going anywhere near TIF fil

Thanks NASS but I am a bit concerned to do that. I am unable to do a full
system virus check - as I said it goes slow when it gets to the TIF files
(even though they have been deleted via internet options) - I don't want to
download anything without virus checking it immediately. I have window washer
on the PC which seems to be very similar - but it also virtually stands still
when it gets to the delete TIf files bit. Everything else is fine - I can get
into the internet, outlook etc

RE: Programs slowing considerably when going anywhere near TIF fil

Thanks Nass. I downloaded CCleaner and ran it in safe mode as you suggested.
Everything seems to be working OK now. Thanks for all your help.
