Find in W2K8 Enterprise changing to wingdings?

I've been trying out Windows Server Enterprise 2008 and have to keep reinstalling.

The desktop slowly sees the fonts change, over a period of a few weeks, from normal to wingdings, making it all unreadable. This has happened multiple times. Avast Server Antivirus does not find anything, nor do I see anything off in Hijack This.

I'll attach a screenshot in my reply email, so that it is only by choice that you see the screen shot.

This is the 64 bit version, by the way. On the same machine, 32 bit is happy as a clam. This one boggles my mind.

Crazy!

You say it slowly changes. So one application after the other changes
over to wingdings?

What happens if you remove the windings fonts?

No, not app by app. First, the screens you see before logging on, and as you
wait for the desktop show it. Then, the desktop goes. It's happened on 3
different installs of Enterprise 64 bit.

does this happen for all local users or only for a certain user?
Does it happen also in safe mode?
What is the default printer? (I had some experiences with PowerPoint showing
strange font clusters, if the default printer was set to text only.)
What kind of video driver is installed?
Any strange entries in the event log?
Best greetings from Germany

I only have two user profiles, and both have the issue. No printers are
attached. This happens in safe mode as well.

The video driver is the one that came with the OS- I will try to replace
them since they are simply standard VGA drivers, apparently.
