files locked

I have seen an more cases lately where files on a server share (2003 r2) say
they are currently in use when this does not appear to be the case. I have
had users complain about this as well. In some cases I am very doubtfull
that someone actually does have them opened since no one else should even
have right to open. Excel files and word files... maybe even some autocad
files. any suggestions?

You can use Process Explorer to see which program has a particular file or
directory open:
