When I shut down my computer automatically by just pushing the on button to
turn off I get a window that says MCCWSAWINDOW and it will sit like that
forever if I let it. I have to click the ok button to close this window then
my laptop turns off. What is the solution to getting rid of this window? AND,
what is this window related to?

A quick Google for "mccwsawindow" shows this is probably related to BT
Broadband software.

I doubt you need this software to connect to the Internet, but you can check
with BT if that is indeed your ISP.

Re: mccwsawindow

Hi Paul,

In addition to Malke's always excellent advice, if you are truly shutting
down Windows by simply hitting the "power" button, you are only asking for
additional problems in the future. Always shutdown Windows via the Start
button, and shut down menus.

Windows XP, *if* you are using the NTFS file system is much more capable of
handling your described means of shutting down the machine, than say a
Windows 9x machine, but when you least expect it, it will come back to bite
you.

Re: mccwsawindow

You're not supposed to shut your computer off with the power button...
you can hose your system doing that. Try going to Start, Turn off
Computer instead and see if things improve.

Please be aware that the power button is actually monitored by Windows
and you may elect to have Windows perform one of several options,
including Shutdown when you press it. Please see Control Panel, Power
Options, Advanced.
