IE icon appearing on CD

I just burned a copy of a folder containing folders containing image files to
a CD using RecordNow. Instead of getting a copy of what's on my C drive, the
usual icons have been replaced by the IE icon in all but the thumbnail view.
But even there, all the usual folder icons and the image file thumbnails have
the IE icon superimposed on them! Yuk!!

How do I prevent this? How do I get a copy of what's on my C drive without
the IE icon showing up? I have repeated the copy process several times and
get the same result. Never had this problem before.

I have Windows XP Professional SP2 running on an HP Pavilion 734n.

Thank you.

RE: IE icon appearing on CD

I have just discovered that the problem is not with the copy process, but
with the display of files on CD by Windows Explorer. I know this because the
same things show up in the displays of contents of CDs other than ones I have
created. For some reason, the IE icon shows up everywhere as described in my
original query.

So still, how to get rid of the IE icon(s) in the display?

Re: IE icon appearing on CD

The Default Internet Explorer Icon is Displayed in Explorer When
a CD/DVD Disc is Opened:

This is a bug in Windows that will never be fixed, however there
is a workaround.

This behaviour happens when 'use large icons' is checked under
'Display Properties-->Effects'.

To fix it:

1. Right-click on the Desktop and select Properties.
2. Click the "Appearance" tab, then the "Advanced" button.
3. Click the down arrow and scroll down to "Icon".
4. Change the size to 47 ("use large icons" sets this value to 48)
5. OK, Apply, OK.
6. Log off or restart.
