For the short term, yes, but as soon as the client does a Group Policy
refresh, it'll be back talking to your dysfunctional WSUS Server again.
On the client, in the registry, navigate to
HKLM\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate\AU and set the
registry value "UseWUServer" to dword:0x0 and restart the Automatic Updates
service.
The client will then execute a detection against Windows Update, and
download all needed updates.
Or, you could just browse to Windows Update from Internet Explorer, and not
even mess with the registry.
Any particular reason you're more interested in doing this at howevermany
individual clients instead of just fixing the WSUS Server?
