Undock doesn't work anymore - Windows XP Pro SP3 on Sony Vaio laptop

Gurus,

Running Windows XP Pro SP3 on a Sony Vaio laptop. The system has been
running fine except for one little problem - when I try to use the "Undock
Computer" option from the Start Menu nothing happens. It used to work
fine - and present a dialog box indicating "Undock is complete" but now it
doesn't do that anymore. Thoughts?
